The Old Way to Remodel

Traditionally, a remodeling project involves the collaboration of two distinct professions, Architecture and Construction. Within this traditional framework, you would first find a Designer who is able draw the plans and write the specifications for your project. Then in order to get the pricing and scheduling to get your project off the ground, you would need to find a separate Contractor who can transform the drawings into a structure, a process that involves a series of complex overlapping decisions.

You, the homeowner, are typically the facilitator of communication between the Designer and Contractor. In order for your remodel to be built to your vision and within both your budget and schedule, multiple facets must fall perfectly into place. The drawings need to first be buildable and communication must go flawlessly. In the real world, and especially in older homes with a lot of quirks, this can very easily become a daunting, frustrating task.

The New Way

The Design/Build concept is different. It combines the worlds of Architecture and Construction into one and you are working with the same team from start to finish on your remodel project. This seamless process solves the typical problems that often arise from a traditional remodeling approach by closing the knowledge and communication gap between the Designer and the Contractor. You can then play the role of the decision-maker rather than the mediator.
